We spent a great couple of days on Tangier Island. It was like stepping back in time. The island has been settled since the 1770s, the current population is under 500, and there is a very distinct dialect. The major industry is crabbing, and there is a small tourist trade serving a couple of day trip ferries that visit several times per week. Folks were surprised to see us still in town when the ferry left.
We had a great beach day at the south end of the island, and a nice day exploring the town. We even caught our first fish, a 15 inch Striped Bass right in Parks Marina.
